Ground Marjoram has a similar but gentler flavor to oregano. This herb is delicious with fish sauces, salads, Italian, and Greek dishes. Marjoram blends well with parsley, dill, basil and thyme.
Our marjoram powder is sometimes referred to as sweet marjoram, wild oregano or knotted marjoram. This powdered form is great in blends or mixed with stuffing for poultry or pork. You will also find it used commercially in seasonings for liverwurst, bologna, cheeses, soups and salad dressings. It also adds flavor to sauces and gravies. You will sometimes hear this herb referred to as the “sausage herb” because it is a popular ingredient along with other spices in sausage blends, especially in Germany.
Marjoram as a flavoring agent. Ground marjoram is used in some liqueurs and cocktails to add flavor. You will find marjoram listed in the ingredients of vermouth. It can also be used as a cocktail ingredient, especially when combined with other sweet ingredients.
Other Uses for powdered marjoram. Ground marjoram is perfect for making marjoram tea. Many herbalists use marjoram in tea to treat a variety of ailments including colds, coughs, ear pain, gallstones, cramps and stomach pain. Ground marjoram is used to add aroma to some types of soaps and cosmetics.
